#1 Killing It
“Kill your darlings” the greats say; I’ve taken this to heart.
A born writer, I’ve initiated incalculably many births of “genius”—none finalized. All left unfinished.
Aborting before publication qualifies as killing, right? My written embryos never see the light of day; I pre-emptively kill them stone dead.
Until now.

#2 Crimes of Passivity
Apparently, criminality runs in families. It is a predisposition seated within our DNA—nature cemented through nurture.
This mafia’s niche was one of procrastination and bad admin: tax returns left unfiled, car registrations unrenewed. And their daughter was raised to join the family business of crime through inaction… very successfully.

#3 Neither a borrower nor a lender be…
It’s time to pay the Piper, but one can’t squeeze blood from a stone, necessitating a last Hail Mary:
“Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother,” I stammer tearfully.
“Render unto Caesar,” the heartless loan shark responds coldly.
There’s blood in the water… Big brothers are the worst!
